About

Picture
I am a curious human being fascinated by water and tiny beings. Not as a coincidence, I became a  researcher in aquatic and molecular microbiology. I'm currently a postdoc with Jérôme Comte at INRS-ETE (Quebec, Canada) studying the genomes of bloom-forming cyanobacteria. You can check my CV in the following links in English , French, or Portuguese. You can also check a bit of my story and research motivation in this video.
I am also engaged with science popularization, education and EDI initiatives. A world where anyone willing to become a scientist encounters no barriers for it, and where scientific knowledge is not a mystery to anyone, is the world I want to live in.

Education

Ph.D. (2016-2022): Biology, Université de Montréal (UdeM, supervisors: Jesse Shapiro and Gregor Fussmann); visiting scholar (summer 2019) in Trina McMahon's lab at the University of Wisconsin (UW-Madison, USA).
M.Sc. (2013-2015): Ecology, Conservation and Wildlife Management, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil, supervisor: Alessandra Giani)
B.Sc. (2008-2013): Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil); exchange student (spring 2012) at UW-Madison (USA)

Besides science...

When I'm not in a lab nor in front of a computer, I'll probably be with one of my pets and/or trying a new DIY idea. I make macramé as a hobby and I try my best to be closer to a "zero waste" lifestyle, trying alternatives such as composting at home and recycling oil. I also love swimming and I used to sing as a soprano in the Brazilian choir of Montreal.
